COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH is seeking a Applications Engineer with a specialty in transport processes (reactive, porous media and biofluidic flows or electrochemistry), to join its team in Technopark Zurich.

COMSOL provides software solutions for multiphysics modelling to commercial and academic customers. From the Zurich office, we care for top engineering and scientific teams in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In our local branch office of a rapidly growing international company you will be entrusted with a broad range of responsibilities, allowing for personal and professional growth. 

Primary responsibilities

Pre-Sales Leads Qualification and Prospect Support

  • Demonstrate the building of clear and understandable simulation examples for prospective customers
  • Support prospective customers on the modeling of their applications with COMSOL Multiphysics®.
  • Demonstrate use of the COMSOL® software and summarize its features in web-based workshops and other marketing and sales events, along with customer meetings.
  • Identify, nurture and develop potential sales accounts reactive flow, CFD, heat transfer, and electrochemical applications.

Post-Sales Technical Support and Training

  • Support customers on use of the COMSOL® software for their multiphysics applications
  • Initiate and participate in subsequent sales opportunities to existing customers or their colleagues.
  • Develop your technical and simulation knowledge and abilities through working with sales and support cases both independently and in cooperation with other sales and Applications engineers.
  • Run introductory training courses on transport processes, webinars as well as personalized on‐line and live product demonstrations to excite prospects and demonstrate our products to potential and existing customers in industry, government, and academia.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Physics, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrochemistry
  • Six months or more experience in modeling transport processes with COMSOL Multiphysics
  • Service‐minded, business‐oriented, outgoing personality, adaptive and flexible.
  • Willing to work with customers on a daily basis.
  • Strong presentation skills, both in‐person and on‐line.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills ‐ quasi‐native fluency in German or French.
  • Eligible to work in Switzerland (Holder of Swiss B permit or higher).

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth experience with COMSOL® software in modeling CFD, heat transfer, reactive transport processes, electrochemistry or porous media flow
  • Proven record of numerical modeling gained as part of project work at a commercial company, government research facility, or university.
  • Strong background in computational methods
