Section of Photochemistry (PCS)

The PCS of the Swiss Chemical Society is a forum for photochemists, photophysicists and photobiologists. It has around 100 members. The Section is a member of the European Photochemistry Association (EPA).

The aims of the PCS are

  • to expand its members basic knowledge and practical expertise in photochemistry, photophysics and photobiology
  • to promote the application of light in areas such as synthesis, electronics, materials science, biology and medicine. The Section is a member of the European Photochemistry Association (EPA)

Main activities

  • Networking
  • Appointing two delegates to the SCS Awards Committee who review nominations for the Grammaticakis-Neumann Prize. This prize is awarded for an outstanding contribution by a young researcher to the science of photochemistry (www.scg.ch/awards/grammaticakis.html)
  • Organizing or co-organizing conferences, meetings and workshops
